Specialised Media For Gentle Cleaning

Handles Intricate Carvings And Details

REVIVING TIMBER’S NATURAL BEAUTY

Over time, timber can lose its character beneath layers of paint, varnish, or grime. At Blast & Paint, we specialise in restoring timber to its original condition. Whether it is a structural beam, an ornate door, or a piece of furniture, our in-house abrasive cleaning process provides a consistent finish that hand-sanding cannot achieve. Our workshop also supports surface preparation for projects involving blasting, painting and coating, as well as restoration work, such as alloy wheels. With over 20 years of experience, we handle transportable items up to 2.2 m in height and 4 m in width, preparing surfaces for further finishing where required.

SPECIALIST TIMBER RESTORATION PROCESS

Our restoration process uses natural abrasive media, such as crushed fine glass beads,  iron silicate and soda to gently remove coatings without damaging the wood. This method is perfect for intricate carvings, deep grains, and hard-to-reach areas that manual sanding cannot touch. Items are returned into the raw, natural state, ready for your chosen finish, or we can arrange professional coating through our trusted local partners. From beams to furniture, we ensure every piece is treated with care and precision.

WHY ABRASIVE CLEANING IS BETTER FOR TIMBER RESTORATION?

Abrasive cleaning offers unmatched consistency and efficiency. Unlike hand-sanding, it reaches into cracks, grain, and ornate carvings, ensuring every detail is restored. Our climate-controlled facility in Ossett prevents flash rusting and guarantees a high-quality finish, no matter the weather. With a focus on precision and care, we deliver results that transform timber into a clean, raw canvas, ready for its next chapter.
